Classic Commercials of the 60s and 70s

If you're a late-stage Baby Boomer like me, you grew up with many of these TV commercials during the 1960s and 70s. This was during a period of creative breakthrough at ad agencies - with many pushing the bounds of humor and relevance, moving away from the straight-up celebrity endorsements that were so prolific in early TV ads.

Classic Commercials of the 50s and early 60s

For advertising fans (like me), there's nothing quite as entertaining as watching classic TV spots from the early days of television and seeing how the medium (and those who advertised in it) figure out the transition from a pictureless medium, like radio, to one with pictures. Early ads focused on storytelling and celebrity endorsements, which would soon start to look too much like the programming of the day.

This would set the stage for new creative breakthroughs in the 1960s and 70s.

Vintage TV fans (of 60s and 70s prime-time dramas and comedies) will see a number of familiar faces in these 50s commercials, as these actors tried to "break in" to Hollywood and make a name for themselves.
